Lost Chiropractor?

#areyoulost? Oct 20, 2020

Have you ever been lost? (Trust me it was more common in the day of paper maps, if you were lucky enough to find one in the glovebox.)

Unfortunately many in our profession are "lost". Primarily lost in their practice. Some have a direction in mind but no idea how to get there or achieve it. Others don’t even have a direction or an idea on what they want. The result is the same, they feel lost.  Being lost is a frightening feeling.  The the searching for a direction, the searching for that one thing (or person) to give us direction, to give us hope to deliver us to where we want to be. Until we can find this we are lost.

What does being lost really mean?  I don’t know where I am.  Do YOU really know where you are?  Do you really know where your practice is?  Is it where you want it to be?  Is your life where you want it to be?  If not, you are lost.  We have all been lost at some point in our lives.   Being lost is a terrible feeling.  The feeling of helplessness, the feeling of being inadequate and sometimes just feeling like a failure.

The problem is when we are lost in our lives or lost in our practices we don’t have a smart phone with google maps to tell us HOW to get where we WANT to be.  We don’t have a GPS to give us step by step directions to get to WHAT and WHERE we want to be.  This creates a struggle for us.  Often causing us to reach out to anyone we think may be able to be our personal GPS.  But there-in lies the problem.  This “personal GPS” doesn’t truly know WHERE YOU are.  It can guess, it can ask but only one person knows the answer.  YOU. Only one person can ultimately get you from your current "lost" location and get you to where you want to go. YOU.

Sure your “personal GPS” can give you directions and give you the "how to" do it.  But there’s only ONE way to become “un”- lost.  You have to taking the action steps. You have to follow the directions. The GPS can only help you if it knows where you are.  The GPS can only know where you are if you tell it truly where you are.  Let go of the “lies” we tell ourselves and our loved ones about where we are.  Where are you?  Truly, where are you?  What do you want?  Where do you want to be?  What must you DO to no longer be lost?

IF you don’t know you’re lost and you don’t know WHERE you are you will never get "un"- lost.  If you’ve ever been lost going to a friend's house and you call them, what’s the first question they ask you?  "WHERE are you?"
