The Business of Chiropractic

Certainty

#certainty Oct 20, 2020

Mental certainty... to know beyond any doubt you’ve got what it takes to accomplish the task. This certainty is like a muscle. If you want it to grow, you have to exercise it. This kind of certainty is built, experience-by-experience, mistake-by-mistake and win-by-win.

Like a card trick. Practice moves designed to create specific actions and a very specific outcome, every time. Practiced again and again, in a mirror, on video, looking for any slip that may give your trick away. Because when the time comes, you need to execute, be flawless, you get one shot at getting it right.

Stop and consider the situations you face daily in your practice. Your life. Where is your certainty coming up short? Are you getting stumped by questions and objections? None of them should take you by surprise. The answer to the question or objection has been covered. You should know how to handle every situation with nearly automatic precision. When you know you can’t fail you act with absolute...

Is Your Front Desk Person Making or Breaking the Deal?

First impressions are key.

Nobody wants to hear a bored, unhappy, phone greeting.

Unfortunately, when calling different offices, not just chiropractic offices, that is exactly what we hear.

Guess what? When I hear a bored, unhappy, couldn't care attitude on the phone, I won't do business with that person/office.

The same goes for your office.

If your front desk person is having a bad day and she doesn't smile when answering the phone, guess what? Everyone will know she is having a bad day.  Not good for business, especially when we are in the business of helping people feel better.  Nobody wants to go where there is negativity.

So, how do you train your front desk to answer the phone? If you are leaving it up to their sparkling personality you are losing patients and therefore losing the opportunity to change someones life through chiropractic and make money while doing that.

Leave nothing to chance, including HOW your office phone is...

Building a Successful Practice in Less Hours

Working LESS means working SMARTER and a little bit HARDER.  You have to be on your A game: structured, organized, and CONFIDENT.

Structured and organized in your procedures. Everything from the first phone call to schedule an appointment, your consult, explanation of what you do, exam, report of findings, adjusting "routine", table talk, you name it, it has to be "planned to look and feel organic".  When you know what you are doing that builds confidence.  Confidence that you are delivering the goods and healing patients and it doesn't matter that it only took you a minute or 2 to adjust that person because they just received everything they needed to heal and move one step closer to their health goals.

Balancing Family and Your Practice

Male/Female it doesn't matter.  If you are a chiropractor with your own business you gotta figure out how to make it all work so you are

  • less stressed
  • spend quality time with your family
  • give 100% to your patients

I am a mom of 3, I run my own practice, no associates, and only adjust 3 days per week.  I make a GREAT living and run the show: my practice doesn't run me.  But I had to learn how to do this.  Don't make the same mistakes. Set the rules, delegate, and enjoy the fruits of your labors.

Top 5 Ways to Know Your Coach is Lost

I believe everyone should have a coach or a mentor that they can lean on to ask questions, bounce ideas off of, become better at whatever it is they want to improve on and be held accountable.  It is no secret: those who work with a coach or mentor are more successful, period the end.

What I don't believe in are the "coaches" or "influencers" out there that prey on our profession with outdated methods or false premises.

I have been through several coaches in my 23 years of practice and have vetted many more.

My grandmother used to say "there is a lid for every pot".  I am not knocking anyones choice out there, but I found more coaches and business management groups to be a farce: not listening to my wants or needs as a practitioner and only pushing their agenda.

So I thought I would share with you a few of the biggest turn offs I found when vetting a coach(and some of the reasons I left coaching groups).

TOP 5 WAYS TO KNOW YOUR COACH IS LOST

1) The "coach" doesn't practice...

Everything Is Personal

EVERYTHING IS PERSONAL. We need to remember this when communicating with our patients or "educating" the public. It must be personal TO THEM. You must form your relationship or connection to what is personal to THEM.

Don't talk about "fixing back pain".  Rather talk about how that pain is                                    limiting their life, work, social time, or hobbies.

Many in the profession communicate what is personal to US.

Just get adjusted and everything will be alright.  Chiropractic FIRST. Let                                 the body heal from ADIO.  You get the picture, right?
